Not a Good Option Oct 22, 2012
The website and reviews looked promising so going through a bad experience was really disheartening/disappointing.

(+) Nice location for food/coffee/near Hongik Train Station/near Airport Bus Stop/night life/some shops

(-) Room esp. if claustrophobic - we got a room w/o window w/c is well, our own wrong choice and pretty okay if about this time (fall time) since the temperature drops. There's an exhaust fan and stand fan to help circulate the air in the room. HOWEVER, the house is on ondol (typical Korean house heating system) and there's a certain temperature that the owner fixed. So we ended up suffering through 38 Celsius room temperature every night. The scary part was I can see the fire alarm blinking its red warning light numerous time because of the high heat in the room. I don't know how the temperature ended up this way because if it was like this before we sleep, we could have complained (but that is only if the owner is available - more on this later). The temperature just increase significantly as the day breaks. So yes, we did not sleep for 3 nights (the whole duration of our stay).

(-) Free Breakfast paid but not available. Supposed to start at 8 but even until 830 AM not even a piece of bread or juice or coffee was on sight. We were also not given the liberty to raid the ref so we ended up just getting food somewhere. There's a 24 hour coffee shop KONA COFFEE not so far from here.

(-) Towels and bathroom - towel is more of face towel than body towel. Slight inconvenience. Shared bathroom can be very wet since there's no partition between toilet and shower (w/c seems like a typical sight in Korea hostels). Suggest to wear shorts going to bath so as to prevent getting your clothes wet. Do the changing and other routines like make up in your room instead.

(-) Owner attitude - in 1 occasion, when we have problem with the door lock (yes, it was also not working), the owner attended to it immediately. But aside from that 1 positive occasion, the rest was not as good since (a) Owner looked like we were not welcome at all & am pretty sure it is not language barrier or cultural difference misinterpretation since this is not the 1st guest house we stayed in Seoul. She didn't say much so the non verbal words to me would be don't touch anything/don't move around the house. (2) Owner was not available in the times provided for office hours so we could not do any complaints like the missing breakfast or the hot room.

WATCHOUTS: Even if choosing the rooms in ground floor, there are steps going up the ground floor of the house. People with back problem or difficulty hauling their luggage up, skip this. There will be no one helping you to haul it up. The owner will just stare at you.

Yup! we heavily rely on the website and it was what we led to our decision.

Our room is so small that we can't take any picture. It's either you sit on the bed or on the floor or on top of the luggage w/c is besides the bed :(
However, to be fair, its website's pictures are very close - if not - exactly the room that you will expect. The restrooms in the website looked cleaner though :P
