Four Points Hotel Culver City
Four Points Hotel Culver City Reviews
A step up from my usual "budget" hotels, but not impressed Aug 21, 2008
Usually I stay at budget hotels like a DAys inn, comfort inn, or something similar that are $60-$90/nite, but for my bday weekend, I decided to step up to a nicer hotel. I was able to book Four Points Sheraton at $110/nite via prepay on continental.com.
The hotel was in a great location, room was nice, and hotel itself looked new and modern. It had nice amenities like a big swimming pool, happy hours on Fridays, small workout room, business center (one computer), and a hotel restaurant downstairs. However, I was disappointed when the room did not have a microwave or refridgerator! Those are usually standard at a budget hotel, but at Four Points, you have to pay a fee. Ok, it's just a mic and fridge, but when I travel, I usually buy meals that are big enough to split in 2 days thus saving money for more meals. I use mics/fridges religiously when I'm out of town! I usually also buy 24 pack bottled water (as opposed to buying individual bottles everytime I'm thirsty) for my trips and keep it cold in the fridge! I knew ahead of time that there was a fee, but that's just something that should be offered with no cost esp if this is not considered a budget hotel. I am also use to getting free, hot continental breakfast at budget hotels so this is another negative about this hotel. There's a restaurant downstairs but with ridiculous prices. I knew about the no free breakfast ahead of time as well, but just like the mic/fridge, free breakfast should still be offered with this rate at a nice hotel. The room itself was for a two queen bedroom. The beds were fine and comfortable. There's not a central light for the room so it's a bit dim. There's a light by the door and 3 lamps, but it's still pretty dim when all are lit up at night. The bathroom is SO tiny and there is no ventilator. With four people staying in the room and using one bathroom, the ventilator would've come in handy. Thank goodness I brought my Victoria Secret Body spray to use as a room deodorizer!! We happened to get a room that faces the freeway, so you can hear the cars driving past. It's pretty loud, but something to consider when booking a room - just make sure you ask them for a room not facing the freeway. There is a $10/day parking fee. Not sure why, because they do own the parking lot and not shared by other businesses. All in all, the hotel stay was nice, clean and a descent price for a Los Angeles hotel! But comparing to my budget hotels for the price I paid, it would've been nice if the hotel offered "standard" amenities (mic/fridge/free room wifi/free breakfast/free parking) that budget hotels offer. Sure most budget hotels don't have nice pools or workout rooms, but how often do you use those if you're out most of the day sightseeing?! |
