Would definitely stay again!! May 14, 2013
I booked a 6 bed mixed dorm ahead of time through Hostelworld.com for (I think) an average of 18 - 20 Euro a night. The ratings were high although some of the photos were not very impressive. It's a place to stay, reasonably priced, and people liked it so I went for it. I don't regret it.

First, the bus from the airport went almost directly to the hostel, which is right on the River Liffey. I only had to walk about 2 minutes down the street. The location was close enough to walk 15 minutes (at most) to anything I planned on visiting in Dublin. The front door to the building stays locked and you must hit a buzzer to get in, which was always promptly answered. I liked that for safety reasons. The lobby is full of leaflets for pub crawls, tours, and anything else you could imagine to keep you busy. There is a locked luggage room if you arrive early, or are leaving later than check out on your last day. Laundry is available for a free, and they wash it for you overnight. Breakfast is included, which offers a reasonable variety of foods. If you prefer your own meals, the kitchen is equipped with anything needed to cook, just keep your items in the fridge labeled with your room/name. People were always in there cooking like they were right at home. Wi-fi is available, but only in the common area/dinning area, which also includes a pool table. Outside of the common area, in back, is a smoking area. A TV room is available down stairs for movie nights. Certain nights of the week the hostel hosts events. Two I attended: the BBQ (good food and good drinks with good people!) and the pub crawl (NOT to be missed, what happens in Dublin stays in Dublin!) There is NO curfew and you CAN bring your own booze in if you'd like : )

Check in went smoothly. The staff did inform me at check in that after 3 days I would have to change rooms to accommodate larger parties and a full house. Not a problem, thanks for the advance notice : )Staff are friendly, funny, and very helpful. I lost my key about 3 times in 6 days and never had a problem getting it replaced without charge. A lift is in the building, as there are 3-4 floors. The rooms. Clean. Three bunks with a clean small attached bathroom. Under each bunk is a nice sized lockable (bring your own lock) cage to keep your belongings in. Bed is comfortable enough, clean linens..I slept like a baby. Of course roommate situations will differ but I never had a problem with mine. First room, 4 other Americans I bonded with immediately and another that wasn't very social. Yeah, sometimes the guys stumbled in at 5am drunk, or someone wakes you cursing their early flight or tour. Take it in stride, laugh, and go back to sleep. My second room, one of my initial roommates and 4 fun party hardy German guys. First morning woke to find all of them hungover and the room reeked of beer sweat. I cracked a joke about "did you fellas happen to have a bit to drink last night?!" and that tied up our bond there : )

I had LOADS of fun here. Met people from all over. Never felt unsafe or uncomfortable, and the price was nice. I'd DEFINITELY stay again and recommend it to anyone else looking!
