Forte do Castelo de Belém Oct 09, 2013
Forte do Castelo is a old battery fort above the entrance to the harbor and market area. Immediate area of this small fort is full of grand churches, places, and interesting buildings, so this must have been a center of town in the old times. Entrance to the fort is from the park that occupies old square and you wont miss it if you are visiting important cathedrals around the city. Fort is a museum right now, and walls feature many cannons from different era’s. Inside the walls is a history museum of the surrounding area which was very rich in the past. Numerous people used to live in the Amazon basin for thousands of years, and some of the things left behind them are shown. Presentation is mostly, ceramics, wood and stone work, it is small but worth seeing.
