We decided that we would try to relax and rest as much as possible….so we did! We only went way from Fortaleza one day, we went to a paradisiacal place called Canoa Quebrada. But we had to book in advance two seats in a mini bus to go to this place since it was 200km way from Fortaleza.
After arriving to the small village we still needed to take a quick ride to the beach using a special car called Buggy (4 wheel traction convertible car). It took us 5 minutes and we were there…in…

My 2nd time through Brazil, I felt there was one last obstacle in South America for me to "conquer" -the Amazon. But it all started out in Rio with the Mecca of Brazialian Jiu-Jitsu, the legendary Gracie Barra Academy. Good times, interesting country.

KERRY - We only had 2 nights in Fortaleza as it was a stopping off point to get to Sao Luis , but in this time i managed to have a pretty bad accident and end up with 2 black eyes!
We arrived in Fortaleza around 6pm and took the local bus to the hostel we had booked. The journey was fine and all was well, until i got off the bus. I took 2 steps and then managed to trip over a paving slab that was sticking up, and land head first on the pavement with my huge backpack on my back! Needless to s…

In 2003 Fortaleza played in the highest division in the Brasilian league. Despite 80.000 visitors, the team went down to the second Brazilian league, were they play still till today. But we were fortunate enough to visit a home match in the highest division. Fortaleza is my favorite Brazilian team.
Other teams in Fortaleza are Ceara and Ferroviario.

3 September:Got to the hotel at 7am and luckily could check in and have a lovely shower after our night bus. The hotel is on a very noisy street, but luckily the aircon generally blocks out the noise! We´re only a block back from the beach, and about a 20 minute walk to the centre. Jose took us on a mini city tour, but not an awful lot here really. Saw the main church and the big central market - it´s about 4 floors of tourist tat, brilliant! Melissa found a gr…

The Peter Allen song starts "I've been to cities that never close down, New York and Rio and old London town" So I thought why not use the song to plan my trip? Add Tokyo and Lisbon, starting Dec 5.
Include New years eve and Carnival in Rio and check the Iguazu falls from the Argentine side.
My good friend Dave Wylie found me an apartment in Copacabana right near the beach, another good friend from my home in Surfers Paradise, Sudzie, said "hey mate I am coming with you to Rio".
