Fort Rotterdam Nov 05, 2011
The Fortress was in built the 16th century and is still sturdy and in a well-preserved condition. It is located at Ujungpandang Street No. 1 about 1.5 kilometers West of the center of Makassar (Field Karebosi) South Sulawesi, Indonesia.

The Position of the Fort is near to the beach. Because of its location in the center of Makassar, the castle is easily accessible. I Just walked about 20 minutes from my hotel to reach the Fort. But you also could use a taxi or public transport. (But I was not lucky because the fort still under renovation so I didn’t take a lot of pictures).

A Brief History of Fort Rotterdam is one of the strongholds in Sulawesi South which can be regarded as a magnificent and charming. The castle is a heritage of the Sultanate of Gowa, once glorious empire around the 16th century with the capital Makassar. The Old Empire had 17 fortresses that surrounded the City. only Fort Rotterdam is the most magnificent fortress citadel among the others, and its authenticity is still preserved today.
