Fort Canning Park Feb 20, 2013
Fort Canning Park is a one of oasis in the Singapore center. It is the site of the old fort and some other fortifications that were part of Malayan Defense Command during the Second World War. Now it is perfect place for easy stroll through the woods, wedding ceremony, morning run… Top of the hill features reservoir that is strictly off limits, but there are beautiful paths all around with many art pieces, some archeology, spice garden, few gates and countless spots to sit and enjoy the nature. Hill is not strenuous and everyone can climb it up and go down. There is also a beautiful building that hosts information center with some history about the place. Surrounding area is spotted with museums and other places of interest.

Great break away from the city Feb 24, 2012
Fort Canning is a pretty large park, by Singapore's standards. The architecture there is really pretty and colonial-style, and there is a small archaeological dig within the park which kids especially like to look at.

Weddings, photoshoots, and music concerts are held frequently in Fort Canning because of the scenic greenery and nice architecture. It's also PERFECT for romantic strolls because of the peacefulness and some vintage white swings around. There are also many benches around for people to sit and rest. Try not to go to the park at night though, it can be too dark.

The spice garden smells great. :)

There are some stairs and slopes you have to conquer though, so wear comfortable attire and footwear. Slap on some insect repellent too because there are mozzies in the park!

Right beside the park is the Singapore National Museum, which is a great place to visit as well. Fort Canning Park is also next to the bustling town area of shopping malls, which makes it an amazing getaway from the busy city when you feel like it.

A Visit to Fort Canning Park Jun 29, 2011
Fort Canning Park is located in the heart of Singapore and can be reached by a number of MRT stations. Dhoby Ghaut MRT is probably the closest and then it’s just across the road (and up hill from there on). It’s quite well signposted so there shouldn’t be any problems. Whilst the central reservoir area is not accessible (it’s fenced off) you are able to walk around the park which is quite big. There is also a high-end hotel there as you enter the park from the Dhoby Ghaut entrance and number of restaurants (I was really impressed by the quality of the food in the Italian restaurant by the entrance to the hotel).

It’s an interesting walk around the park as they have a number of art installations dotted around the park so it makes it visually quite entertaining. There are also places for you to go and have a picnic and shelters if it becomes too hot or if it starts to rain!

There are also a number of different areas in the park such as the spice garden that has a number of spice plants that you can see how they grow rather then the end product in the supermarket. It’s a good trip and considering it’s free to do, a bit of nature in the high-rise city is a nice break.
