Fornalha Reviews

May 13, 2006

Fornalha is a cheap and fast place to eat, in the beginning of Copacabana (there are several of theam spread across Rio, though). They serve some kind of large hors d'oeuvre, filled with cheese, chicken, shrimps, and plenty of other stuff.

There's also some great pastry. Croissants, pies, cakes... And you can have a lot of food with little money, and in less than 15 minutes you're done and satisfied. Not the most nutritional one, I should say, but do you really care?

My favorites are the deep fried manioc muffin stuffed with grounded beef, and the deep fried leg shaped chicken with cream cheese muffin. The names are actually much simpler in portuguese, it's just that I have no idea if you have anything like that somewhere else. One more reason to try it!

It works 24 hours a day, except from Sunday night to Monday morning, and delivers. It's placed two streets from the beach, and like everywhere else in Copacabana, you may find old ladies, rich kids and transvestites hanging together harmoniously any time of the day.
