Former Ainscough Mill Jun 25, 2017
En-route to Burscough on the Leeds and Liverpool is the former Ainscough Mill. In 1855,Hugh Ainscough developed this mill to steam power corn. The adjacent canal and railway (Liverpool to Preston line) served a strategic part for the mill for receiving imported wheat from the port of Liverpool and coal, for steaming the corn, from the nearby coalfields.

The mill was eventually taken over by Allied Mills which closed in 1998. Today the mill has been restored and converted into expensive apartments.
