Forio is a small town on western side of Ischia island in the Bay of Naples, with population of about 17000.
This town has some of the most important tourist attractions of the island. On its territory you'll find best beaches, like Citara and Cava dell'Isola, famous La Mortella gardens, originally the property of the English composer William Walton, and some of the best thermal water spas, like Sorgeto and Poseidon.
Forio has some interesting small churches, main street that stretches from pretty white Church of Soccorso that stands over the sea, winding down towards the port. Best shopping on the island is along this street. Many excellent restaurant and night clubs and bars can be found in the port, just below the Il Torrione tower that serves as town museum.
Public transportation system on the island is very good, and hence Forio is well connected with Ischia town and other points of interest on the island.
