Fordyce Vacation Guide
With narrow streets still following a medieval plan, charming houses and lovely cottage gardens, Fordyce is a wonderful little place, and comes complete with it's very own fairytale castle situated on a village street.
The origins of the village go back nearly a thousand years. The old Kirk next to Fordyce Castle was known as St Talarican's, which dates back at least as far as 1272, but it's likely that an even earlier church existed on the site. It's well worth the walk around the little kirkyard to read the old cemetery stones and see the knight-in-armour shaped tomb. The old kirk remained in use until 1804 when the congregation transferred to the new church at the other end of the village.
Situated 45 miles from Aberdeen airport (1 hour drive) and 55 miles from Inverness airport (1-1/4 hour drive).
