Flying with Cubana Nov 20, 2010
Flying with Cubana air means flying in Russian airplanes (my flight was in a Yaklovlev type of airplane). These airplanes are built in a way that they can carry as much passengers as possible which will give you almost no space for your legs once you sit down.

Another issue is that when we took of smoke appeared in the cabin which caused the passengers to be alarmed especcialy since a week before this flight a plane had crashed here in Cuba.

After just a short flight from Havana to Santiago de Cuba we landed safely.

I traveled a year ago through Cubana air too in October 2010, in fact if I remember good it was not so long before a crashing of a Cubana plane, so during the flight to arriving to La Havana it happened a similar situation than the one you described here. The good thing was while leaving from Cuba luckily the plane was better, newer and certainly more comfortable and of course a safer feeling.
