Flour Boston Reviews

To my joy, Flour Bakery + Cafe opened a second location right next to where I work. If you happen to be at the Children's Museum or at the ICA (Institute of Contemporary Art) and are craving for a gourmet sandwich under $10, this is the place to go.
While you're standing in line, even before you've figured out what you'd like for your entree, you'll be tempted to order one of the tarts, cupcakes, banana bread, and cookies displayed before you.
The "grilled roast chicken with brie, arugula, roasted red peppers & caramelized onions" is delicious and the "homemade raspberry seltzer" bubbly. For those who aren't into sandwiches, the menu also includes soups, salads and pizzas of the day.
Lunch rush hour is around 12PM to 1PM, and should be avoided if you're extremely hungry. Most people who work in the area take their meals to go, so seating in the cafe is plenty. The decor is nice and modern with regular and barstool seating. If you'd like to enjoy some sunshine and take your lunch to go, around the corner and a block away (near the 40-foot Hood milk bottle by the Children's Museum) is a boardwalk lined with picnic tables. Waterfront views are available if you walk a little farther and head over to the ICA or the Courthouse.
The "flagship" Flour Bakery + Cafe is on 1595 Washington Street in the South End.

Flour is the most adorable bakery in the South End. Its almost
hippy-ish aesthetic complements the freshly prepared, wholesome foods.
They make a delicious homemade granola/yogurt/fresh fruit cup, amazing
sandwiches, and the best chocolate cake in the city! Equally good for
breakfast, lunch, dinner or dessert. Their motto is "Eat dessert
first." Interesting tidbit - the pastry chef, Joanne Chang, graduated
from Harvard with a degree in Applied Mathematics and Economics, and
left the consulting world to get into professional cooking... and I'm
glad she did!
