Back in the USA.
posted by:

I fell asleep at 10pm last night -- a good thing because we had such an early flight. But then I woke up again at 11:30pm (!) and couldn’t get back to sleep. Omph. I lay in bed for four hours and just worried about “stuff” … now that this trip is over am I going back to my old (terrible) sleeping habits? Great. Finally at 3:30am Steve and I both got up to shower and finish packing, then our cab picked us up an hour later. I was so tired, and dragging, and full of mixed emotions. I fel…

Hurricane Paloma???
posted by:
Nov 08, 2008 - Nov 09, 2008
Good morning, We have been planning this trip since June of this year. I thought we would be in the clear from any hurricanes this time of the year. Paloma has raised her ugly head in the south caribbean on the Cayman Islands. The outer bands of the hurricane will be affecting the Keys.  We are going to call Key West Express to see if they will be sailing in the morning. It's a three and half hour ride. If we don't get to go to the Key's we will spend the day in Fort Myers sigh…

Key West: Key West Travel Photos

Jul 30, 2004 - Jun 05, 2006
Mainly this will be from my brother's birthday trip in 2006, but I have a few odd pictures from a previous time in Key West in 2004, so I'll throw them in there also. Anyway, in 2006 we took a boat from Ft. Meyers to Key West, rather than driving.

Traveling with Nonna and Grandpa is looking like a good idea. They took me to a fish restaurant called Island Fish Grille at the intersection of I-95 and Griffin Road in Davie FL. It’s right next to a Bass Pro shop. Penguin heaven . . . .fish in all directions – but they only let me eat the ones in the Islamorada sandwich.(grouper with cheese and grilled onions). The Bass Pro Shop was off limits. In spite of the kindness of a pretty Air France agent (who helped get us to the plane) there…

Universal Studios
posted by:
Jun 28, 2006 - Jul 03, 2006
We arrived at Universal Studios around nine and saw Shrek 4-D first; the preshow with the pigs, Pinocchio, and the gingerbread man was cute.  We followed up with Terminator 2 3-D.  I liked how they combined live actors with the film.  ET was next with a really cool waiting area of an outdoor scene.  ET's home world was...unique.  We headed over to Back to the Future, an up-close simulator ride through three times.  We then shot at aliens on Men In Black (my score…

This was a spur of the moment trip to the beach. Some friends of mine had made it down to the beach and tempted me to go down there and pay them a visit. Hmmm let me think about this... Sit here at work or spend Cinco De Mayo Weekend in a house near the beach with 3 girls?

Our 32nd Anniversary!
posted by:
Oct 05, 2006 - Oct 08, 2007
Our last day consisted of a leisurely day of cruising back to Fort Lauderdale.  I love "at sea" days when the sun is shining!  My idea of relaxing is a lounger by the pool, a fruity drink handy, just the right amount of SPF, and nothing to do!  With the added area of the Enchantment, I found it pretty easy to find my prime spot by the pool.  Warm breezes and ample sunshine occupied most of my day!  My husband isn't in to lounging, but finds relaxation by looking over …

Key West...what can I say?
posted by:
Jun 19, 2006
Growing up, my parents would take my siblings and I to the Keys every winter.  It seemed so magical back then.  I'm sure that had something to do with seeing it through the eyes of a child when everything is such an adventure, but going back in 2006 I felt there was something left to be desired.  Maybe Key West still hadn't gotten back on it's feet after a prior year's hurricane or something, because most every house in the area was kind of sorry-looking.  You ca…

Winter Music Conference 2008
posted by:
Mar 31, 2008
It was Friday, March 28, the first day of Ultra Music Festival's official closing of the Winter Music Conference. As the sun began to set over the city's skyline, Miami’s Bicentennial Park began to vibrate as the six stages welcomed some of the worlds most influential DJs. As darkness continued to fall over Bicentennial Park, DJs such as Moby, Paul Van Dyke and Tiesto spun some of the sickest sets, with most DJs spinning some of their most recent hits. The crowd was by far one of th…
