Florida Costal Cuisine on St. George Street Mar 24, 2011
The Florida Cracker Cafe offers regionally-inspired informal dining in the St. George Street Historic District. The restaurant is not in one of the historic buildings, but while you are exploring them, it's a convenient place to stop for lunch. And, that's just what we did.

The restaurant is very lively, with indoor and outdoor seating. (A Florida Cracker is a descendant of the English settlers who came to St. Augustine during the British period. The restaurant is a fit with the Spanish, Minorcan, and English influences along St. George Street.) For lunch, I ordered a cup of Minorcan Chowder and a Cracker Fish Sandwich (with Cheddar cheese and sauteed onions and mushrooms). Susan had an Avocado Salad, a house specialty, and Drew ordered a cup of New England Clam Chowder and a Shrimp Po' Boy Sandwich. We were all getting in the spirit! Very tasty that Florida food!

Thanks for this. One of these days I plan to visit St. Augustine. It's a trip that's long overdue for me. :)
