I returned to Tuscany with my friend Sam. We stayed in Castellina in Chianti, and wandered the neighbouring towns.

My second time in Rome. Still loved it. Lucky enough to be part of the Papal audience. Took the Eurostar to Florence for 1 day. Took a train to Spoleto on my last free day. Had the best meal of the week in that medieval town.

I dont really like going in a place with lots of tourists. To be honest: After a certain amount of people I loose control and just stop looking around. I wish I could see Rome and Florence in complete silence. I love pictures because of that. They give you the pure truth in complete silence. I hope you'll enjoy them as much as I do.

So I did a viewpoints workshop this weekend and for all who dont know viewpoints is this weird physical way to build an ensemble. We had a 8 hour workshop on Saturday, but I needed to get away from the villa. I had planned to go to Florence and stay at a hostel with three of my friends, but they did not do the workshop and could not find a hostel. I didnt know what i was going to do, but my friend KK said that we could possibly stay with her friend Tom. So on saturday night …

My last trip to italy was three years ago, when my brave mother organized a vacation in tuscany for herself, her two daughters, her sister, and her mother in order to celebrate grannie's 70th birthday. that's a lot of estrogen but it was grand. we rented a terrace apartment in the country, then drove around to san giminiagno, florence, sienna, barberino, and also rome. most important thing i learned for next time: florence needs to be experienced in the arms of a lover, not your grandma :-)

Woke up quite late, and by the time everyone got fresh and ready to go out it was about 14:00 already *sigh*... women.. why do they take sooo long to get ready?! We basically sped our way through town right to the Duomo, which I believe is "the" must see in Firenze. It is impressive ofcourse the facade is fantastic and the dome (cupola) is pretty huge. The interior is as banal as the facade is interesting. Although the interesting part was walking 414 steps up to the top of the terrace in the…

I broke up my days in Florence because all the museums are closed on Mondays! Please take that into consideration when you're traveling :)
I woke up bright and early this morning to get in line for the Galleria Accademia, where Michelangelo's David and many other works sit. One of the folks in the hostel wanted to go with me, so we headed out. We arrived about 45 minutes before it opened, and there was already a small line at the door. By the time it did open, t…

For the past 4 years I have spent 1-2 weeks in Florence, Italy. I love the city, the atmosphere and the sites. It is such a great place and I always have a blast. This year the plan is to stay for almost 3 weeks!

Our drive to Florence from Pisa was definitely a pleasant one and it didn't take long before we found ourselves looking for somewhere to park the car for a bit. We had thought we might like to stay the night in the city, but some guide book investigations and a trip to an internet cafe indicated we were probably better off spending the day in Florence and then travelling out again for accommodation. So it was off to the Ponte Vecchio for us!
Florence itself was very pretty but we thoug…

Yesterday we arrived in Florence. It was a little over 2 hours on one if TrenItalia's fast trains to get here. Managed to snap a couple photos of the country side from the window as we were whizzing along. After arriving, we checked into our hotel, a quaint little place along the river, Hotel Balestri. It's nice enough and has a good bit of character. The bath room has a shower head sticking out of one of the walls, so it's hard not to make a mess, but, agai…

We had a great time exploring Firenze the capital city of Toscany in ITALY. The city has a population of 400 000 people and during tourist season the streets seems to be crowded with people. Best to keep an eye on your company so no one gets out of sight. We had decided to take a day trip to Firenze and Pisa at the same time since there isn't really much to see in Pisa except for the obvious:) We started out in Firenze which has a lot of art and architecture to offer and i enjoy both:) We wen…
