Florence was amazing! We spent most of the day a few blocks from the Duomo. We shopped and just walked around all day! It was such a wonderful day! We had the best pizza ever at the little bitty resteraunt, we each got an entire pizza to ourselves, which we werent expecting, but enjoyed nonetheless! It was great! Thats all I can say!

Could I myself believe that finally seeing Michelangelo's David was real? We stood in line for hours, as the Roma attempted to get away with our belongings. As we were finally escorted into the Galleria Accademia, I spied the giant at the end of the corridor. At least 15 feet tall, the mass of people that swarmed around him, adored him, seemed miniscule. I walked around him for so many times, catching every angle. His muscles taut, perfect, immaculate. Down…

Tuesday. It got hot again in the room during the night. J throws covers off at 3am. Later it cools again a bit. Had a Huge big scrambled egg breakfast upstairs rooftop eating room. Again, a ham and cheese sandwich somehow falls into our pockets, and an apple too! Raining hard. We relax and later I go out to buy a citybus ticket for bus #64 to the Roma Termini stazione. We end up getting on an expressbus which didn't seem express at all. I thot we could have access to the first class EurostarI…

So getting to Florence was quite an adventure. High winds prevented my small Lufthansa plane from landing, so we circled to a nearby airport only to find we were unable to land there as well. After flying about an extra hour or so in turbulent conditions, the plane touched down in Verona, which turned out to be a 3 hour bus ride from Florence.
When I arrived at the hotel, I found Joann and Lizzie well-interred in the roo…

On the third day of our trip we went to see Florence. Again, we took a city sightseeing bus tour, there are two different routes, starting at the central station. We saw the baptistry, a few cathedrales, and in one we saw the tombs of Michelangelo and Galileo. We tried to see Michelangelo's David, but because the line was long we changed our minds, and continued with our sightseeing tour.

Thanksgiving, Italian style was actually very similar to Thanksgiving, Asian style. In that there was a giant roast beef instead of turkey. And that there was cheesecake for dessert. Unlike Asian Thanksgiving in that the waiter kept encouraging me to drink grappa for the digestive system until the little old man who owned the restaurant said to stop because I couldn't handle it. Hahaha...they must get a lot of Japanese tourists in there to be able to recognize the Asia…

Seeing Florence for the first time can be quite overwhelming. The sheer amount of art and history is mind blowing...the whole city is like one huge museum! One of the world's oldest and most famous being the Uffizi Gallery which houses Botticelli's "The Birth of Venus" and "La Primavera" among numerous other well known pieces of art. Another site impossible to miss and the crown jewel of Florentine architecture is the domed cathedral, Santa Maria del Fiore, or The Duomo.&nbs…

On day three we were still in Florence. Above is a picture of the
Duomo. In pictures and what we'd read of it it is supposedly really
beautiful. I mean it looks nice but when you see it in person it looks
really green and pink. Its an odd looking place. We were going to go
inside of it (cause it was free) but we'd spent too much time eating
gelato and it closed before we had a chance.
Earlier in the day we wanted to go to the Uffizi Museum. Its like
THE Museum to see in Florence. And a…
