Italy was everything that I hoped for ... beautiful, romantic, rich in history, and had the best food and wine that I've ever tasted. Every town had its own character and beauty. I came to love bread, mozarella, olive oil, and sundried tomatoes ... and vino of course!

School trip

My husband and I took a 2 week backpacking trip from London to Krakow.

    After a long and wonderful day, we ended up back at Villa Aurora with pizzas! Thank you Dag, for picking us up and waiting for the pizzas..! You are the best! Thanks all - for a wonderful day! We'll have to do that again soon!

We arrived in Florence on Tuesday after a 2 hour trip from La Spezia. First impression was of a romantic city bespoked in art and history. This may indeed be true in full or in part, but after a few more hours of wandering (we had to agree entirely with the Lonely Planet Guide on this one), we discovered a city that thrives on the tourist dollar; from restaurants to hairdressers and shopkeepers - there was a tourist radar at every stop ripping unsuspecting (or suspecting) tourists off.
