Started in the Cinque Terre before going to Venice, Florence and Rome. When visiting the Cinque Terre check first that the accommodation is not at the top of the hill - hundreds of steps.

The David is incredible, the street peddlers are too many, the city is so classically 1500 Italy its amazing.  Met Sabine, went Salsa dancing, had an incredible time just eating out and spending time with her and the city..  Uffizi wasn't that interesting.. the Bottocelli's must have been on loan.

Here a good post about the best period to visit Tuscany from Wunderground--The best period to visit Tuscany is spring from may to the end of June cause of the warm temperature (between 25 and 30 degrees). It enables pleasant walks in the open-air, and make it possible to avoid long queues at the most important art museums.Especially if you would like to visit the countryside this is the perfect period.During the summer period, the temperature can reach levels of over 40°C with a high mo…

A brief stay in Florence

So my class and I took a quick day trip to Florence.  It was nice, but too short.  Florence is full of people and full of color.  The city is visible from the top of Michelangelo's Piazza.  That's where our trip first began.  We had a tour guide take us through the city.  It was nice but kinda lame at the same time.  There are soo many tourist there that I think I'm gonna wait until later in the season to head back.  We checked out the cathedral that ha…

We stopped in the cute little mountain top town of Orvieto on the way to Florence - it is where the Pope apparently used to hide out in times of trouble. Nice little stop. So, my main goal in Florence was to see Michelangelo's David, because if I didn't, I don't think Mum would let me back into Australia!!! So Steph and I waited patiently for 2 hours in the hot Italian sun and finally went inside the Galleria Dell'Accademia. There is heaps of other art here, but really nothing compared …

i've finally managed to escape the oh-so-fascinating world of hedge fund finance, and am now decadently indulging my long-suppressed wanderlust with 15 months on the road and around the world... *note: apart from the odd review (generally of something not found in your standard guide book), this is really more just a map of my travels than a proper blog, but if you want more information on anywhere i`ve been or what i`ve been up to, send me a message and i`ll see if i can rustle something up.

Florence Italy- Day 1

Today we wanted to visit Accademia (to see the statue of David) and the Uffizi Gallery.  The line was very long for Accademia so I walked around to find this place to make a reservation... luckily i was able to make one for later that afternoon, at 3:30pm.  So on that note... make reservations to visit her the day before like the travel books say you should.  We then walked to the Uffizi gallery finding its line even longer.  So we had spare time and took a walk up the hil…

Pisa, Italy -› Pescia, Italy -› ...
At tuesday we wanted to visit some of the beautiful mansions nearby Pescia, but most of them were closed. Italians take a lot of time to restaurate buildings, and earlier decided dates to have it ready for public are not accomplished. Doesn't matter, we had a wonderful day. We had lunch in Pescia, and had a conversation about going home. So we decided to go back one day earlier. We were very relieved. Then we drove to Collodi (home of Pinocchio) and visited the really REALLY beautiful mansio…
