We spent 14 days in Rome, Florence and Venice.

    After a long and wonderful day, we ended up back at Villa Aurora with pizzas! Thank you Dag, for picking us up and waiting for the pizzas..! You are the best! Thanks all - for a wonderful day! We'll have to do that again soon!

The centre of Florence is the most amazing detailed historic city that I have seen. The roads are wide and you have a real sense of space even though each house looks like a towering castle, there were obviously a lot of disputes in this city. as you cross the Ponte Vecchio with its old time jewellery shops you are transformed into a different age. We arrived in Florence on Tuesday after a 2 hour trip from La Spezia. First impression was of a romantic city bespoked in art and history. Bonjourno (Good Morning) from Firenzia, ItalyReached Firenzia around 11.15 in the morning and located my hotel (Hotel Globus) with the help of a map which i downloaded from their website. Playing and Learning in U.K.

On my first full day in Florence, I took the trek up the 450+ stairs of the Duomo for fantastic views of the city. The Duomo is the 4th biggest cathedral in the world, behind St Peter's in Rome, St Paul's in London and the cathedral in Seville, Spain... rather impressive indeed! What a fantastic trip.... Starting in Rome, then Naples, Ischia, Todi, Florence and Venice. We made it to Germany mid-June, just in time for some World Cup action!

3 months backpacking in Europe

We are in love with Italy!! I do not even know where to begin.  We have eaten some of the best food of our lives, seen the best art, drunk the best wine and been to Mass at the most amazing churches!  I think our photos tell a story of the Florence part of our journey so I will just leave it at that!

Perched on the side of a hill overlooking Firenze (Florence) on terraced ground this huge camp ground is full of olive trees.  It is expensive because of it's accesiblity to the city and it offers many extra facilities though the internet is not working.  Showers are good but the cubicle has nowhere to keep clothes dry.  They appear to cater for backpackers without vehicles and have a line of tents set up for the tour buses and a loud bar where partying is encouraged. …

In the fall semester of 2005 I had the chance to live in Valbonne, France while I was studying. It was this that gave me my jumpstart in travelling. The chance to have a place I could come back to while I was in Europe made much easier for me to travel the continent pretty much every weeked. Not only did I visit some cities outside France, but I also got the chance to visit some nice French cities and towns along the way. Evidently Paris was at the top ofthe list.
