Ah my last stop before going home! Florence is an amazing city and my favorite of the big 4 (Florence, Milan, Rome, and Venice). It will be sad to come home, but the traveling will keep going! I get home the night of the 26th then leave the morning of the 27th for South Bend, IN where I am taking my dad to the Notre Dame Football Fantasy Camp!

This was an intense day - David, walking, double espresso, gelato, staw market, Ponte Vecchio, more walking, Giotto's Bell Tower, more walking, riding a city bus home, and more walking. But what a great day in a series of great days! I think I will write more later but for now a few photos:

fantastic trip around the med on p&o oceana. a sample of lovely places to decide if we want to go back..which we do on nearly all. Rome was amazing and could do with a month to see all the delights. Monaco was rich!would spend more time there in the shops.

After a nice breakfast at L' Andana we continued our travel in direction to our new hotel "Castello del nero" (see below!).  We decided to stop at a great restaurant called "Arnolfo Ristorante" which is awarded with one michelin star and located on our routing to the north. I absolutely loved Italy, and as sad as I was to go, I was also excited at the same time. I broke away from the group to go to Germany to meet my Mom and Jazmine, my daughter, in Munich. I was so thrilled to see them after being away from my daughter for two weeks. She has been away from me for longer periods of time before on trips that she has taken with relatives, but it was different this time because I was the one leaving. I graduated from high school and all I got was a trip to Europe with my friends! haha :) I traveled to Italy (Rome, Florence, Sienna, Pisa and San Gimignano) and then to Monaco and France (Nice and Paris) and loved every minute of it!!!!!

Today was our free day to roam around Florence.  I bought a scarf for Lindsay and a red shirt for myself to wear to the dance club tonight.  I also ate a LOT of gelato.  Amaretto and Tiramisu flavors are good, but pistachio still takes the cake.  We were supposed to go on a guided tour of the city, but the tour guide was way too quiet, and so I ended up skipping the tour in favor of running around with Melanie, Terry and Jordana.  I saw the Duomo and found the Scudier…

Today was an early start and down the toll road to Florence. Didn't take as long as we though on the expressway doing 140kph. Found a carpark on the outskirts and decided to walk the rest of the way. Walked through some beautiful old streets and of course had a Gelati for morning tea. Then headed to the main cathederal. Europe Trip in September 2003

Florence was a shopping stop and a chance to catch up on emails etc. Nicholas bought some new sandles and we both got Rayban sunglasses. I feel a bit silly as they are a bit like his and hers (N: I'm loving it) - but they aren't actually matching. Thankfully.
