Unique and Interesting! Jul 24, 2012
Visited here in Jun 2010.

I took a day tour of Uros Island + Tequile Island. The boat took us from Puno harbour and it was a short ride to Uros Island. It was a unique experience, as there is no other places like this, the people on the island are very friendly but I thought it is a bit commercialized. However, I did not feel it is bad, they are just trying to make a living.

One thing I am glad is I still bought a hand stitch coffee table cloth (2X3 feet) from one of the families even though I thought it was a bit pricy then. But the picture was so nicely made by hand stitch on a blue colour wool. The picture stitched is about the Aymara people. Later on, I found out that I could not get the same thing any where else. I was so glad now as everyone comes to my house will comment - this is so beautiful, where did you get it?

Amazing Travel Experience at the Titicaca River Jun 13, 2011
My trip to Puno last February was unforgettable, because the Titicaca island is beautiful, visiting the Island of the Uros was an incredible experience, I also had the chance to sail in a ¨Caballito de Totora¨ made by the Uros (it is how the natives of that particular island are called). Also I took a tour to spend one night in other island called Awantani, the natives served us breakfast, lunch and dinner. It was an amazing to experience how it was to live in an island like that! The curtains of my bedroom were made of rice bags, the bread was fried, the hot beverage was prepared using their plant leaves. By the way, the natives of the Awantani island are vegetarians, but eat eggs. Puno has a cold weather, I went on February (summer on Peru)and still had to wear a jacket even though was sunny most of the time. The trip to the Awantani island requires to have a basic physical ability, but to visit the floating island is not a problem. I also visited the Tequile island and the view from that island to the Titicaca lake is breathtaking! You need a basic physical ability to visit that island too, because there are 500 steps aprox. before you reach to the top, where the natives live, you also can find restaurants and stores on the top.
