Flamingo Plaza Resort Cancun

Average hotel. glad we got a different room in the back that overlooked the water. initially, they had us overlooking the noisy pool. Place was fine but the staff from their sister hotel next door were a bit annoying. no I don't have an hour and a half in my day to sit through some speech about how great the hotel I'm not staying in is. too much of a hassle.

I went to Cancun on a spur of the moment decision and was traveling by myself...just wanted to get the hell outta town. The only place that would allow me to have my own room and not charge me double for it was the Flamingo Resort Cancun. The price wasn't too bad and it's all-inclusive which is how I always do it in Mexico. The food was actually pretty good. The Albatross Restaurant was where I ate every evening and the view was wonderful. Breakfast and lunch are buffet and exactly what you'd expect. It's a really small resort; absolutely dwarfed by the next door neighbor (and I did go next door and hang out at their pool for a bit). The pools are small and there just aren't many people there. If you're looking for a party atmosphere, it's very middle of the road. The swim up bar is decent, but "all inclusive" drinks means that you get what's on their list...no shots. They do have a free lock box service for you at the front desk and the people at the front desk are very nice. It's directly across the street from Outback, Jimmy Buffett's, and a few other places, so it's stumbling distance from those places which is good. Anyhow, it's not awful, but it's not great. What it is is a place to feed your face and to lay your head down at night after laying in the sun all day and partying downtown later...which is great!
