Bingley Five Rise Locks are "steepest staircase locks on the longest canal in the country"! They are also know as one of the Waterways' seven wonders and the locks can rise the canal up to 60 feet (18 metres)!

This is an engineering feat not to be missed on the Leeds and Liverpool Canal. Like the Three Rise Locks they were built at the same time in 1774 by local stonemasons. John Longbotham designed the locks and they won the National Heritage Award in 1975. Further information including the locks' history can be found on the Canal River Trust website.
