Benvenuti in Italia!
IF your flight was not delayed (which it usually is, especially Alitalia) you will arrive at Fiumicino airport thinking you have almost arrived. Think again!... On a GOOD day (and these can be counted on the fingers of one hand in Italy), you suitcases MAY arrive on the luggage belt in under 45 minutes. But on an AVERAGE day, it usually takes up to one whole hour. And on a BAD day? Well, who knows? So forget going to the Colloseum or the Trevi fountain or the St Peter's square on the day of your arrival. The highlight of your day will be watching a luggage caroussel that does not move. UNLESS of course, you are smart and you are travelling light, with just carry-on. Then Rome is a breeze! |
