The picturesque fishing village of Paternoster is just over an hour from Cape Town. It feels like a different world though. There are lots of little "fishermans cottages" available to rent, but they are actually very well appointed.
The whole village is within walking distance. Fisherman sell crayfish on the side of the road and the local bar at the hotel has some interesting wildlife. This is the perfect place for a weekend or overnight getaway from the city life of Cape Town. There is also the option of staying at the lighthouse at Cape Columbine which is about 5km out of town.
