Bad and expensive food for tourists Mar 13, 2011
Everyone coming to SF will want to visit Fisherman's wharf. A must see place.

If you go, avoid eating in that area. food will be expensive and bad.

The city has plenty of great restaurants for all budgets in other areas.

Been Years since I've been there, still a tourist sight Jul 26, 2007
The first time I ever went to the Wharf area, between Fisherman's Wharf and Pier 39, my Family was in Oakland, at the Army base, and my Father was doing reviews for structural failures on all the double decker highways that 'pancaked' during the 7.3 earthquake...

So this time was under much better circumstances, and with my children. I will say that having friends and relatives that live or work in San Fran defiantly helps.

So one of the places I wanted them to see was Fisherman's Wharf. Got to say, it's not looking as bright and clean as my memories made it out to be, still it's a good spot to go, especially at the beginning of the day, and it's a short walk down the Embarcadero to Pier 39, with plenty of little shops and sourdough bread boules along the way. Pier 39 was a bit of a shock, as the restaurant I remember eating at with my Father was gone, replaced with a 'Coming Soon' sign. We ate instead at the restaurant on the same (upper) deck, overlooking the Marina and the Sea Lions on the rocks. The kids were laughing and having a good chuckle at the Sea Lions.
