Seafood Like You've Never "Sean" Aug 22, 2012
So of course Iceland is surrounded by ocean so the amount of seafood is going to be high. Fish Market was recommended to us by a TravBuddy local and it was totally worth it. She did warn us about how expensive it was so we went for lunch. My wife and I looked over their sushi menu and decided on the Volcano Maki which was delicious and then we ordered the lobster soup and the cod. The soup was actually an appetizer but it was an entree portion so those looking for a cheaper yet still elegant option should start there. The cod, however, was the star of the show. It didn't taste fishy and it was so tender that when cut with a fork it flaked which was great because as I was eating the potato puree accompaniment I would find small pieces of delectable cod.

The food was great but the service and atmosphere was even better. We hadn't even gotten in the door before the host grabbed two menus and delivered us downstairs to our funky table. I say funky because the walls are lined with bamboo and each table has its own artsy version of a lamp. The restaurant wasn't that busy for lunch so it felt like we had two waiters because they were constantly coming over to chat with us. (I'm not sure this experience would be duplicated during busier hours) Overall this restaurant was by far our favorite in Iceland.
