I never liked seafood until I ate at A Fish Called Coogee. Just blocks from the beach, on Coogee Bay Road, A Fish Called Coogee is a great place to grab fish and chips or to sit and people-watch while eating some of the best grilled fish you've ever had. There is a large selection of fresh fish, both with and without marinades, that can be cooked on the spot, or taken home to cook yourself. Because the fish is fresh and brought in daily, they expect to sell out by the end of the night, so go to dinner early for the largest selection. The chips/fries are as good as they get and cut fresh daily, but eat them there (when you put them in a take away box, they get soggy). The stirfry bokchoyand side salad (half-dried tomatoes, cucumber, spinach, and ricotta cheese) are the perfect compliments, but so good that customers come in and order them alone. You are welcome to bring your own beer and wine (no corkage fee).

Also look for the sister shop, A Fish Called Paddo, located at 5 ways in Paddington.
