First Hotel Skt Petri Copenhagen
First Hotel Skt Petri Copenhagen Reviews
Jan 21, 2008
I've come to realise since staying at another similarly-priced hotel in Copenhagen (the Radisson Royal) that this review, as originally written, may be a little harsh! I'm gradually learning just how expensive a city Copenhagen can be! This is the original review:
********************************************************************** This is the cheapest hotel in Copenhagen with a five star rating, and you seem to get what you pay for; it's like a nice four star hotel, or an under-equipped five star hotel. The best thing about the hotel is the fantastic location; just on the edge of the old town, and five minutes' walk from Norreport station, from where there are direct trains to the airport, and other parts of Copenhagen. The train was very useful for me to get to the office; much handier, quicker and cheaper than taxis. The rooms are smart and clean; mine was a "standard single room", which still had a massive double bed. The room itself was rather small. It had everything you'd want, except a shower curtain: good-sized safe, satellite TV. Apparently there's a restaurant in the hotel, but I was too inept to find it! I tried the cafe fronting onto the street at which I had a burger and some very greasy chips. The food was much cheaper than anything I got at restaurants in the town: about 150kr for the burger and a beer. Finally: appologies if I sound a little abrupt. I just typed all of this in once and then lost my Internet connection, so had to do it all again! ********************************************************************** and here are some mitigating comments: 1) The decor in the room was pretty funky. There was a massive wall of colour above the bed. It's a shame I couldn't get far enough away to really appreciate it! 2) The lack of shower curtain may be a Copenhagen tradition - I didn't fare much better in the Radisson Royal on that score. 3) The super-heated room may be another Danish tradition. The Radisson had the advantage that the aircon worked through the night, unlike in the Skt Petri where it seemed to turn off during the small hours. The corridors in the Radisson are like ovens, but then you don't have to spend too long in them. It's a tough decision to say which hotel I preferred. I think that now I've got used to the decor in the Radisson the hotel is not too bad, but I miss the massive comfy bed at the Skt Petri. Part of the A trip to Copenhagen with work travel blog |
