Decent & clean room. Centrally located with hot water showers available. Breakfast is included in room rate. However, not quite liked the service provided by one of the male staff manning the reception as he was rude. Paid JOD 15 for a room without bathroom.

old fashioned hotel Apr 19, 2008
Late arrival in Jordan. In the hotel (***) a welcome drink was waiting, which was a nice gesture. On our organized tour we spent one night in this hotel. And, to be honest, I was happy it was only one night.

The room was spacious, but….. dusty, furniture old and dilapidated. Television (have to admit, as I was tired, that I didn’t turn it on).

Breakfast, buffet style, a limited choice, was okay! Friendly staff at the reception. Best thing was the view from the roof.

The best (?) budget option in Amman May 03, 2007
The current backpacker favourite in Amman is the Palace Hotel in downtown Amman (not to be confused with the nearby Amman Palace Hotel, nor with the Sandy Palace Hotel - palace seems to be a popular name in Jordan).

The hotel is located near the King Hussein mosque and within walking distance of the Roman amphitheatre and offers large, clean rooms with or without private bathroom.

Amenities include laundry service, luggage storage, Internet access, airport transfer and breakfast.

The hotel also offers several day trips out of Amman like to the Dead Sea, Eastern Desert or Jerash, as well as one-way transportation to Petra, Wadi Rum or Damascus.

These tours comprise of little more than transportation, but can be good value if you are with enough people to fill the taxi. They are certainly easier than trying to travel with the non-existent public transport.

Little note of warning: there are about 10 hotels in Amman called Palace, make sure you book the right one (easy if you contact them via the website)
