Santo Andre, Portugal
Figo Doce Santo Andre Reviews
Figo Doce Jul 26, 2009
I had spent most of the midday on the beach after a late breakfast, it was now 3.30pm local time and I felt I deserved a cold beer. I drove in to the city of Santo Andre which is the nearest village next to my favourite beach.
I drove around in this summer ghost town; it is very dry here and all the houses are painted white. You could imagine that the city looks nice but I always found something gloomy about it. When I drove around looking for a bar or a cafe where I could sit outside and enjoy a cold beer, an angry gypsy like character shouted "motherfucker" after me. I laughed because it was the first negative word from a Portuguese I had ever heard.
Little bit later I found the Figo Doce where I could get a large Sagres for 1€. Sagres is a good beer after the beach; light and a slightly bitter taste which is good to kill the thirst. The bar was somewhat of a dump but I got my cold beer so what.
