Figeac Vacation Guide
Figeac is located in southwestern France, near the base of the Midi-Pyrenees. It is a striking little medieval town, with nearly all of the buildings made of stone and surrounding the marketplace in the town center. The main part of town has a very connected feel to its history, which was built near the turn of the century... 1000 A.D., that is. Figeac still has that small-town feel about it, and if its inhabitants were to dress up in renaissance attire, one would feel as though they had literally travelled back in time.
It is a well preserved, friendly little place with cobblestone streets, narrow alleys between buildings, and a replica of the rosetta stone with its historical memorial and French translation nearby. Although Figeac is a quiet town with no nightlife, visitors will find plenty to explore about its history. Just find the town's visitor center, and maps with explanations can be obtained.
