Fiesta Inn Tuxtla Gutierrez Travel Reviews

Jan 27, 2008
I've spent nearly two weeks at the Fiesta Inn. It's a great place, considering I was in Mexico. This is a very nice hotel for the area - Tuxtla isn't exactly a tourist destination. It's a clean, contemporary hotel and overall service is attentive and thorough. The posted rack rate is approximately $135USD/night as of 1/27/08.

The water at this hotel is 100% potable. This can be a huge advantage when you're thinking about where to stay.

The rooms have nice showers and there is a 24-hr gym next door to the medium sized pool.

There are only a few negatives I could point out.

The beds are a bit harder than most people might be used to, but that didn't bother me a lot. The bigger issue with the beds was that they made them so that the top sheet and bedspread don't really come up as high as I would've liked. Every night I found myself trying to get the sheets past my shoulder.

Also, the rooms tend to stay cooler than you'd normally be used to because of tile floors and cement walls. This is great during the day when it's hot, but the beds don't have much in the way of blankets if you want some extra warmth at night and the floors can be quite cool if you're walking barefoot. This construction style also makes the hallways and rooms noisier than they might otherwise be. My room was near the ice machine and it was rather loud anytime someone collected ice.

And last, if you're used to utilizing an in-room safe, you'll want to check to see just how safe your safe is. Mine worked just fine, but wasn't attached to anything. You could literally lift it out of the closet and take it anywhere.

Overall I would recomment the Fiesta Inn as a decent place to stay if you ever find yourself in Tuxtla Gutierrez. I give it good marks because it seemed like a good standard hotel for the area and it is within easy walking distance of several restaurants and one very large mall. And I think they have a shuttle that will take you places if you like. The only difficult thing about that is that not many of the staff speak much English. The front desk staff are about the only ones who speak English.
