The Field Locks were built over three years between 1774-77 and are on the Leeds and Liverpool Canal. The listed three rise set of locks are situated in Thackley, a village between Esholt and Baildon. Walking on the canal in this area is pretty and secluded with local woods. It's not far from Yorkshire Water's water treatment centre (evident with the smells and noises).

Thackley is a small village in the North of Bradford and renowned for Buck Wood, a local woods which was known for the city's Open Aire School, which opened at the beginning of the 20th Century until 1939.
