This review is for Hotel Fewa, not Fewa Prince Hotel in Pokhara. I've entered it correctly but it seems something or someone keeps changing the title. It really is Hotel Fewa. It's listed in the Nepal Lonely Planet. mike@fewa.mos.com.np local phone 523017 Easily found, taxis know this place well. Located in Lakeside.
Stayed at Hotel Fewa (Mike's) for 5 days in December. After some less than great stays elsewhere, this place was heaven. It was slightly spendy for Nepal ($25 a night) but a little bargaining and promising to stay a few nights we got it for less. The location is PRIME! Close to all the restraunts and businesses, and right on the lake. Boats to ferry you across the lake for the World Peace Pagoda are located there as well. The patio dining is superb, well lit for night time reading or lounging with other travelers or friendly staff, and something about sitting at the base of the himalayas by a lake in a t-shirt, drinking daquiris and getting a sunburn in December is quite pleasurable. The staff would spend a half hour every morning and night helping me learning the local languages. Laundry and masssages are in house. Always hot water that didn't run out! Outlets! Rooms and grounds were immaculate. Worth every penny! Try the Nepali omlet and pancakes for breakfast. They'll even deliver to your room. Nearby are many places to eat. We tried most of them. Gurkha's was our favorite. Lemon Tea, the german bakery, Once Upon a Time, and Boomerang (lemon garlic chicken!) were the best. The famous Everest Steak House was decent but disapointing and overpriced. The quality of steak was much lower than Gurkha's. |
