Ferry to Ireland Jun 03, 2005
Stena Lines operates the ferry system between Britain and Ireland and we got to take one from the Port of Fishguard and Rosslare. A few days later we got to take another one from Dublin Port back across to Holyhead.

Our first experience was a little less than perfect because one of the ferries that is normally in use broke down and they had to bring an older, slower one into service quickly and get it to Fishguard. That took a little extra time and we had to sit and wait for a couple of hours. When it did get there our bus, along with many trucks and autos were loaded aboard and off we went across the channel.

Once the vehicles are parked on the lower deck all passengers move to the upper deck where they can enjoy the trip in several areas. There are movies to watch, plenty of places to buy food and drink, and even gift shops and some gambling machines. Our trip over took nearly three and a half hours. I’m sure it was longer than anyone planned. On the return trip a few days later we got one of the hydroplane ferries and we made to quick trip back in half the time. Smooth, fast and a very enjoyable experience.
