Taking the ferry from Kita Kinabalu to Labuan Island and back Jun 07, 2011
There are several ferry companies that provide ferries to various locations from Kota Kinabalu and back. We booked the tickets for the Express Kinabalu ferry, which is owned by the Double Power SDN company. It varies on the time of departure and where to.

The ferry terminal is at Jesselton Point, which is also small boulevard and has some restaurants. We bought tickets for the 8:00am ferry and it costed is 39,60 MYR/RM (around 10 euro or around 13,50 US dollars) per ticket and they were first class tickets.

Now first class is on the upper deck, but that's basically it. Don't expect fancy/comfortable seats or lots of room for your legs. It's just upper deck.

During the trip, 3 men in working overalls (mechanics or something) offered snakcs and drinks. But I guess that service was given on the lower deck as well. It seems those who work on the boat, work 2 jobs ;)

The journey took around 3 hours and was quite cold at the time, because it was raining and windy. My advice is to check the weather first and dress accordingly or pack something extra clothes with you, before you take the ferry to any destination from Kota Kinabalu.

The return tickets we bought upon our arrival in Labuan, since we knew what day & time we would go back. The tickets costed this time 39 MYR/RM (around 10 euro or around 13,50 US dollars) per ticket and were for first class again. It was for the same boat, the Express Kinabalu.
