The Fernbird is a small backpacker hostel, a really small one! There's only space for max five people - one toilet, one shower, a small TV room. Everything's very clean and comfortable and cheap! Even from the outside it looks like a really relaxing place where you can enjoy your time.

The hosts are living on the first floor - I suppose they were owning the house and after they retired they decided to renovate the ground floor so people can live in. That's why the atmosphere is familiar, they help you with everything you need. If you need spades for the Hot Water Beach or information about the perfect time to go there, they know it!

Because it's such a small house the visitors are using the private kitchen of the hosts. Personally - I didn't like that. I always felt like I would step too much in their private sphere. But you can be sure that's everything working and clean.

It's just a short stroll down to the beach, so if you spend your summer in Hahei, the Fernbird is a good place to stay in. But you shouldn't go there alone because then you just would feel lonely.
