It was terrible! May 30, 2012
If you are from hell then you are definitely at Home!

My friends and I stayed in this place for 4 days in May 2012 during an international convention and if only we had another place to transfer to, we could have done so. We made our booking months before our stay and we paid in full. The owners wanted us out to accommodate other guests, so they turned off the air-con in our room. We have to endure the heat of a small room with 6 bunk beds for 3 nights because we just couldn't find another place to transfer to because Singapore was full at that time with more than 25,000 delegates from all over South East Asia because of an international convention.

And they made it look like the air-con in our room was only malfunctioning. But the other two rooms just adjacent to ours had their air-con functioning perfectly well.

On our second night, we asked for at least a discount for the inconvenience but we were just told that if we want to go out, we can do so because they can rent the room (to Europeans - who were already staying at the hostel's corridor) for double the price we paid.

Since Singapore was full that time with more than 25,000 delegates for an International convention, all hostels, hotels, inns and rooms were full and there was no place to go. So we decided to just endure the HELL of that room. My companions and I went three nights without sleep because the heat was just unbearable.

And the reason why we know they turned off the air-con purposely was on the day we checked-out, one of our companions went back to check the room. To our dismay, our suspicion was right all along, the air-con was just FINE! They had turned on the air-con right after we left.

Don't get fooled by the owner's seemingly kindheartedness. Doble Cara. All they wanted from their customers is the money!!! So if you want a taste of hell on earth, try this place. It will be an experience of a lifetime.

Dear Sir, I am very sorry to see your so small mentality about all this. We clearly explained it to you that the air-con system is 3:1 means with 1 unit you can operate 3 units together. And unfortunately there was some problem in the one condensor. And because of that your room air-con was not working. As because the herballife members booked nearabout the whole Singapore, we were not able to make another arrangement for you. And please tell me that in your room is there anybody else other then your group stays? The answer is NO, so you can't blaim us we specifically cheat you. The Air-Con unit was under warranty and we already inform the company about the same. And if you remember the day was saturday and we were helpless as they said that they will come on Monday and will fix the problem and as they said they did it. You should understand that you are talking about machine and machine can go bad sometimes, so it's not a matter that the people who are operating the business are doing it intentially. For what reason we will do as we understand that you are the one who are our guests and if you will remain happy, you can give us further business. Rather explaning you everything by my staff, you still mention this which is not fair at all. Anyways thank you very much for choosing us for your stay and extremely sorry for this 2 days inconvenince to you. Owner, Feel At Home Backpackers, Singapore.

The hostel is quite small, with 3 rooms. But the owners are so nice that they make up for the small size. Breakfast is served for an hour each morning from 8:30- 9:30. It's in the Arab district and right near the oldest Mosque in Singapore.

It's extremely clean and tidy. The only problem I had was that the rooms don't have windows, so when I would wake up I would have no clue what time it was without looking at my clock. The rooms have air-con and they have hot showers.

They really did everything possible to make us "feel at home" but it's true- they were kind and attentive, without being intrusive. It's really close to the Bugis MRT Station, and the directions on the website were perfect. I was able to find it without a hitch. There are a lot of really expensive places here in Singapore, but this place is a great place if you're on a budget and want to be near to everything in Singapore.
