Feed Store Springfield Reviews
'Soup'-er Lunch Mar 30, 2010
The Feed Store is located right downtown Springfield, just across from the Old State Capitol, in the Old Capitol Plaza. Open for lunch only Monday - Friday (11 am - 3 pm), the Feed Store offers a variety of unique soups (what they are known for), and sandwiches.
Today, they had a selection of eight different soups (which was wonderful since it was 22 degrees outside and I had walked here to meet a friend). After debating, I got the vegetable beef, which is described on the menu as being a 'thick and robust vegetable soup from a recipe passed down from Great Grandma Richardson'. It was a nice, hearty soup with large chunks of carrots and celery and beef in a broth that had some sort of onion flake all throughout and it had a tangy flavor that reminded me of Worcestershire sauce. I really enjoyed this soup. I had debated on the mushroom bisque -- next time!
When you arrive at the Feed Store, don't sit down. Walk to the back, where you will place your order and then sit down; they will then bring your order to you. You will pay by the door on your way out.
Check out the Feed Store if you've got some business downtown.
*Edit: I made it back to the Feed Store and tried the mushroom bisque; it was delicious. Really creamy with a great mushroom flavor, made with fresh mushrooms. We also tried the chocolate chip cheesecake, and it was divine -- and I don't like cheesecake.
