Located in the Historic Downtown of Wilmington is this Italian Pub with an Irish flag on the wall. I have no idea what that is about.
We just stopped for beer. They have a few Red Wines, less White Wines, some Bottled Beers and 25 Draft Beers. They have more domestic beers than European brands. Their menu consists of Italian fares with several types of pizzas. We did not order any food here. I don't think I ever will eat here since I saw that their Sanitation score was 91%, an 89% without ServeSafe which means a "B" grade. I'm not sure how busy they get. We were here on a Sat afternoon at the same time a Beer Fest was happening on the other side of town. They did have an excellent music selection of Classic Rock. I would go back just for the beer and music. They have a second location that just opened on Racine Dr, north of the UNCW campus. Part of the Life in North Carolina travel blog |

This is one of the reasons why downtown is not safe for families, because businesses are operating like this! Mar 03, 2008
My family and I went on a nice family outing to downtown, or so we thought, to Fat Tony's. While at the restaurant we were seated by a very nice waitress, and then asked our drink orders. This is where the night turns south! (Mind you it is about 6:30 p.m. on Sat.) As she is taking our drink order, a group of people walk in being extremely loud and disruptive. After taking our drink order, my husband asked the waitress, politely, if there was any way that she would be able to calm this group down, at least there language, since we were with our children. She proceeded to inform us that the group was employees and one of them happened to be the "general manager" of this establishment(off duty). When asked if we may be able to talk to the manager on duty she walked over to the loud (read: drunk) "manager" and had informed him what my husband had told her. (We could here her, if anyone was wondering how we know what she had said) At this time my daughter got up to use the bathroom, mind you she is only 13, and the loud employee, manager, or whatever he was made some very suggestive remarks to my daughter! (If you didn't catch that before, she is only 13!) This of course was the end of our experience at this restaurant! I am still shocked about this experience. Please, I would love to here your remarks about downtown, stories of comfort or horror stories. Bee

From the not so Irish pub, we walked around a bit until we got to Fat Tony's Italian Pub . This Italian pub had an Irish flag on the wall. Their menu did look Italian. We just had beer here and listened to some non-stop classic… "Tomorrow will be a Good Day" . . . |
