Mmmm, fresh oysters!! Mar 28, 2010
Stumbled upon the food stall last year with a couple of friends who invited me to drink with them. We scouted the area before deciding what and where to order (soo many to choose from!).

To those who have not been to Tiendesitas, it's a place where you can buy a variety of things from clothes, bags, and accessories at bargain price, to antique furnitures, Filipino delicasies, and even pets (and pet supplies)! Of course, for a place to attract people, especially for us Pinoys, there has to be a food area...hehe.

Live near 'Tiende' but I didn't go there often until I discovered Fat Butchie's...got hooked on their FRESH OYSTERS! They serve it baked or steamed, but my favorite of course is baked, as it is a perfect beer match if prepared with fried garlic and cheese! Yummm!

The oysters come fresh (you'd know if it is, juicy and not dry) from Aklan, and one time, they have actually refused to serve me because they felt that the batch they had were small (the oyster 'meat' or watchamacallit)...that was a nice gesture. :) Anyway, 1 order with 12 half shells is only P180! Cheap, huh?

They are also one of the few who serve Red Horse beer, which is the kind I prefer (any strong beer, no light, please!), for P40/bottle. Cheaper by the bucket, of course!

I think they open pretty early, as they serve the call center employees in the area. Have also noticed that they seem to be the crowd's favorite, as they offer set meals for less than a hundred pesos (Filipino dishes). I've never tried it though, because I stick to the oysters OR the 'isaw' & chicken skin combo whenever the oysters are not available. :p Maybe I'll check it out next time...

Look for it! It's at the last aisle of the rows of food stalls if you're coming from the middle part of Tiendesitas... happy eating (or drinking)! ;)

Hi Carl! Thanks for reading my review! :D it's $3.96 in US ... restaurants in Manila normally charge around P250 and sometimes for only 6 pcs :(
