This local favorite serves relatively cheap, delicious food in a cozy setting. The pumpkin pancakes are the best pancakes I have ever had. Granted, I'm not a pancake fanatic, but biting into one of these babies is like eating a fluffy cloud made out of pure delight. They are light and buttery, and the spicy pumpkin aftertaste lingers on your tongue like a happy memory. The wait is sometimes a bit long on weekend mornings because the seating area is small, but if you arrive later in the afternoon it's not so bad. For the ultimate Berkeley gastronomical experience, do Fat Apples for breakfast, Gregoire for lunch, and Chez Panisse for dinner.
