Fast Train, Underground, Well Organized
Fast Train, Underground, Well Organized Reviews
MTR - underground, cheap and wellorganised transport Jun 09, 2010
MTR is the underground system in Hong Kong. The system contains 10 different lines connected to eachother in a very convenient way.
MTR covers all Hong Kong and New Territories. As a tourist you buy the Octopus card. You pay 100 HKD and that gives you a certain deduction. A tour within the city costs approx. 6 HKD single way. The Octopus card is valid for all buses and trains and you can also use it in 7 - eleven stores.
The MTR stations are extremely well organised with information posters and signposts and staff is around even if you travel after midnight. There are people everywhere and you need to line up in front of the cover-doors at the quai for the train. Trains run every three minutes and transfers is most often just on the other side of the quai. There are escalators and lifts everywhere and very good access to all trains. Everything is very clean and you do not find any rubbish or trash anywhere.
