Farnsworth House Inn Gettysburg Reviews
Civil War Atmosphere at the Farnsworth House May 28, 2010
The Farnsworth House Inn offers a Civil War themed dining experience in Gettysburg. The restaurant is in an 1810 house restored to its 1863 appearance. (The upper floor of the house was used by Confederate sharpshooters during the battle. There are more than 100 bullet holes visible in the exterior brick.)
We had lunch at the Tavern. (An open air Garden and a more formal Dining Room are also at Farnsworth Inn.) The Tavern offers a menu of sandwiches, salads, and lighter entrees. We both ordered Fish and Chips, the special of the day, together with a cup of Peanut Soup. Very good. (Only one refill on iced tea.)
The waitresses were costumed in Civil War era dresses. Costumes and props from the feature film Gettysburg were on display in the Tavern along with other artifacts.
