Farmington Overview

Farmington sits in the scenic Laurel Highlands of the Alleghany Mountains in Western Pennsylvania. The historic National Pike, the first federally funded interstate highway, runs through the town. The Mount Washington Tavern museum recounts life for travelers on the National Road in the 19th century while modern day tourists can stay at the Stone House Restaurant and Country Inn that opened in 1822. Farmington also holds the Mobil 4-star rated Nemacolin Woodlands Resort and the Spring Valley Golf Resort.

Farmington is the site of Fort Necessity National Battlefield, where the young George Washington encountered hostile French troops in the opening skirmish of the French and Indian War. The Frank Lloyd Wright houses Fallingwater and Kentuck Knob are just a few miles away as is Laurel Caverns, the largest cave in Pennsylvania.
