Many people come to Japan looking for famous toy store and wanting certain collectable item such as dolls or famous characters.
The toy stores in Japan are huge most cover at least 5 floors filled with dolls, figurines, famous characters, puzzles and toys only made in Japan. The two main toy stores I know of are: Hakuhinkan in Ginza located a few minutes walk from Ginza station. http://www.hakuhinkan.co.jp/eng/info.htm Kiddyland in Omotesando is located a few minutes walk from Omontesando station. http://www.kiddyland.co.jp/en/ Both are great fun even if your not a kid I think there is a big kid in all of us. Lot's of great things in both of these stores. Part of the My experience of 6 years of Living and Teaching in Japan travel blog |

Also went to the Apple store which was pretty damn huge, it had like 4 floors, bigger than the Apple store I was in in London, which was huge already. Went to this really famous toy store which reminded me very much of Hamley's in London, same setup and store design, wouldn't be surprised at all if it was the same company, or if one copied… Day 2: First full day in an Asian country! |
