A common feature of Greek people is gathering and celebrating in every possible occasion! Such a case is a 'food festival', a one (or more) day fiesta where natives and visitors of a certain Greek region (mostly country villages or small towns) get together in order to have fun and 'honor' the local food specialties! Apart from the delicious food, you will meet new people, laugh, drink a lot of wine and ouzo and dance until the daybreak!

In the next lines are summarized only some of these festivals...If it happens to be near these places, feel free to visit them and you will get a lot of fun and...food (into the brackets are written the exact villages of the fiestas and the dates, while outside are written the more known towns/regions that are closer to them)! Enjoy:

Corfu (Benitsa, 1-10 August): Sardine Fest

Lesvos (Kalloni, 1-10 August): Sardine Fest

Symi (2 August): Shrimp Fest

Lakonia (kioupia, 1-10 July): Goat Fest

Evros (Trigono, end of June): Sparrowgrass Fest

Prespes (Koula Beach, 10-30/8): Bean Fest

Pilio (Stagiates, end of July): Sausage Fest

Messinia (Filiatra, mid June): Watermelon Fest

Elassona (September): Feta (aka traditional Greek White Cheese) Fest

Grevena (end of August): Mushroom Fest

Edessa (end of June): Cherry Fest

Kavala (Lekani, first days of September): Potato Fest

Rhodes (Sianna, 11 August): Honey Fest

Kos (Antimaheia, end of September): Honey Fest
