The immense beauty that it possesses May 19, 2010
The Fairy Meadows is at a purely isolated location in the province of Gilgit-Baltistan. As the name portrays, it consists of lush green meadows, pine tree forests, a stream flowing in the middle, etc. But the best part that makes this place amazing is the Nanga Parbat in the background! The view is so scenic that it feels as if one is looking at a portrait or something. This Killer Giant rests just beyond the forest and has a full panoramic view. The climate on the mountain is always extreme so it is covered with snow all year long. Cold breezes can be felt as if they are coming out of a freezer. One could be lucky to have a full view on a clear day. The base camp of Nanga Parbat is a 6 hours hike from here. A lot of trekkers come to this location to access the base camp. The local people are very nice and helpful. There are some cottages built over there which are operated by different owners. Apart from that, there are great camping grounds available with equipment. In all, it is a spectacular location where nature has preserved one of its best.

To reach this majestic place, one has to put in some effort. Upon reaching Raikot Bridge (near Gilgit) there are jeeps easily available which will take you on a 2 hours ride on the world's most dangerous jeep-able track to a village called Tato. It is THE most terrifying ride ever imagined. Then further is a 3-5 hours trek (depends upon fitness) up the mountain. The track ends up to the Fairy Meadows. There are proper guides available at Tato Village who will take you up the trek. As for the jeeps, they'll confirm the return date and time and will be available beforehand on the mentioned date.
